Animal welfare

By developing our own fish feed recipe in order to improve farming performance, regular veterinary inspections and controlled feeding, we have a positive impact on the health status of fish, which directly affects its survival. Increasing survival is a basic indicator of animal welfare.

Strict control of chemically-physical parameters on a daily basis (oxygen saturation, sea temperature, etc.) and cage densities in accordance with the principles of aquaculture, ensures optimal living conditions for the fish. An important preventive measure in the protection of fish health is vaccination, which directly affects the suppression of bacterial diseases.

Preventive measures have led to farming without the use of antibiotics. As a confirmation, Cromaris has a technical specification STP80 – a certificate by which the independent certification body DNV GL Italia confirms that sea bass and seabream that come from Cromaris farms, were farmed without the use of antibiotics.
